Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need reservations? Yes, we fill quickly these days and we don't want you to miss out or have to wait.  We try our best to accommodate all walk-ins but we can not guarantee a table without a reservation.

What if the number in my reservation changes?    We know things can happen and getting your group to commit can sometimes be difficult; please let us know about changes in the number of your party as soon as you know.  The earlier we know the changes the better we can accommodate you and your group.  The planning of your tea experience begins as early as the day before your reservation and the preparing of your group's menu begins at 7:30 a.m. the morning of your reservation, so last minute adjustments can be costly.  Because of this, there will be a cancellation fee of $5.00 per person for groups 6+ if you do not cancel within 48 hours of your reservation.  Please call us as soon as your group knows there will be a cancellation.  We usually have a waiting list and that will allow us to invite someone on the list to enjoy tea.

Can you accommodate large groups?  We are happy to accommodate larger groups in our elegant tea room.  Our largest table seats seven so your group will seated at several tables if larger.  A 20% gratuity will be added to the your bill for groups of six or more.  We have cozy sitting on our mezzanine for your group to visit before and after your tea experience.

Would men enjoy the tea room?   YES!  We have lots of gentlemen visit us, and they all testify to how satisfying and enjoyable it is.

Is a gratuity included in the price of the teas?    For parties of six or more, a 20% gratuity is included.  For smaller parties, we leave the gratuity up to you.  **Please add the gratuity to your guest check at the end of your tea and present it to the cashier downstairs**

May we bring children?   Most of us here at the Thomas Company have children and grandchildren that we dearly love, but Laura’s Tea Room is not set up to handle children under the age of 12.  We have designed this to be a relaxing place for you to “get away from it all” and want everyone to enjoy their time here.  We have had several  beautifully behaved “little” guests that we have enjoyed.  We will leave it up to you to decide if your child would enjoy this atmosphere--we do not have a children's menu and they will be served the same as adults.  However, should you decide to bring your children to enjoy the tea experience, we will ask you to take your children out of the tearoom if they do not act like a "proper" young lady or gentlemen.  We thank you for your understanding on keeping this a relaxing and enjoyable tea experience.

Do we need to dress up?    No! Please come as you are comfortable.  We always enjoy groups that come for tea in their finery, hats, gloves, heels, etc.— it’s so fun to see; but most come very casual. There are hats upstairs on the mezzanie for you to wear if you wish.

May we bring a cake?  Yes, but please notify us ahead of time so that we can provide extra plates and utensils.  There is a $2.50 per person plating charge for bringing in a cake.

Do you have a room charge for parties? We do have a room charge between $75-$100.  Please call with all details regarding your party to get the information you will need.

May we bring wine?  No, alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the tearoom.

Please remember there are stairs to climb.
